Thus spoke mother_ by Dr Elena Carruba

Union unconditionalWords as compassThey took the boat The one shrinking in waters When numbers grow When breaths strive All are enemies In search for Survival His mother An eternal fighter for survival Uttered toiling words Labouring labials Thundering agony Dangers, you’ve seen Perilous streets Toughness Neglect and hunger Intertwining players Winds fighting for power Street power Desk power Greed for a slice of bread Envy for a smile Your teeth are complete Your bones never broke Your smile is stamped Your heart is pure Thus you leave Thus you return. The boat shrank The boat sank People melt I survived But my soul Faded away In the multitude Dropped deep In the deadly waters Of neglect Despise Bitter solitude. Elena Carruba’s published poetry
